B737 Performance Improvement Systems
Capitalizing on the experience gained with the B727 Quiet Wing Performance Systems, Quiet Wing has applied our patented flap modification technology to the B737 series aircraft.
The first STC on a B737-200 was issued in 2005 and is a modification to the aircraft flap system to increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the wing while reducing drag. This gives the aircraft the ability to operate as if it had upgraded engines but at a far lower cost. For instance, a -9A powered aircraft with the Quiet Wing modification will perform as if it had -15A engines. This is especially noticeable at “hot and high” airports such as Mexico City where a -15A powered aircraft equipped with the Quiet Wing Performance System can easily take off with an additional 5,000 lbs. of payload. The same benefits are achieved with later generation, CFM powered B737’s.
